Besides composing music, i really enjoy watching a good movie! movies are great for inspiration to music, and a movie must have a good soundtrack to amplify the atmosphere in the film. try watching films like lord of the rings without sound, and you get the idea.
I am also a dedicated trekkie, following everything the Star Trek universe has to offer! live long and prosper! my dear captain, that's simply inexplicable and illogical! ;)
I also "collect" music in general. i'm not into a specific genre, it's simply impossible for me to do that. nowadays i listen to seal, mike & the mecanics, genesis, mike oldfield, jarre and vangelis. the next month i could listen to pink floyd, a-ha, europe, the cure and queen... that's me, so one could say that i'm a typical "all around music-lover".

If you are interested in reading more about me and my background, please read on...

I live at the west coast of norway, more specific in aalesund with approx. 40000 inhabitants. i guess i don't have to say much about our powerful nature, it's unexplainable, you simply have to visit norway, just to see the landscapes and breathe the fresh air...
then it was christmas, in 1984, and i got my first computer, a commodore 64 [not surprised?]. somehow i got quite fond of the music already then, something simply struck me i guess. for quite some years i didn't even care about the "normal" music which all of my friends did. the "tiny" sound of the c64, with 3 [4] channels was by all means enough for me at that time!

I will never forget how i felt when i first heard the music from "green beret" which was the 2nd game i bought at my local computer store. the music made by martin galway was unbelievable! i mean, this was a time when my friends had big posters of michael jackson, a-ha, europe and all other big groups/artists from the mid 80's. i did of course like some of the "normal" music from that time, but deep inside of me, all i ever wanted, was to have the opportunity to sit down and relax listening to c64 music. well, okay, go ahead, shake your head. i'm being honest here! :)

I "thumbled" with the c64 for about 4 years, and during that time, i've gotten quite some games, if not to mention demos, music-programs etc. i started making some short musical-ideas in soundmon, but i never had the c-64 long enough to develop myself as a "decent" musician, so i ended up without any releases at all. i used most of my '64 days listening to the awesome music by martin galway, rob hubbard, tim follin, ben daglish and later, maniacs of noise and chris huelsbeck.

My contact with the amiga-scene started around 1991 for real. when i say for real, i mean outside my hometown, no local parties/groups. i joined razor 1911, because one of my best friends, stein-erik giske aka bug was a member of the group, so he kind of "joined" me in.
i and bug also composed 2 tunes together, "flassjazz" and "addiction", and i personally think those tunes are still of good quality, and i'm not talking about the 8bit sounds, but the music itself! we also formed noiseless productions together in 1992. i guess we wanted to create a music-label like maniacs of noise did on the c64 with several musicians having fun sharing music experiences and to offer freelance music for the software-companies, but we never got that far. anyway, i wrote noiseless productions in nearly all of my modules, and i don't regret it today. i know for a fact that noiseless is well-known for many of the amiga/pc-guys/groups, so it was not done for granted.

Iin the period 92-93 i talked to nosferatu [razor 1911] about making a music-disk. he started programming, and soon after, "dizzy tunes 1" was finished

At the same time as the release of the music-disk, I ended up at 2nd place in the music-compo [the gathering '92] with "variations". woooow, this must be the perfect advertise for me since not to many have heard of me, except from those guys who have heard "face another day".

a 22 minutes new-age tune with lots of different themes. with this tune i got attention from all over the scene. some about the music, giving me compliments, and some because of the length, how it was possible and such...superb response i thought, having in mind that a music-disk was about to be released at the end of the gathering 1992, after i received my 2nd place prize award. this was also my first stand-alone music-contest.

the summer '93, me and two of my friends were on our way to denmark for a nice holiday, but we had planned to visit the rendezvous '93 party held in kristiansand, norway. i competed with "guitar slinger", which won the competition and is probably the no 1 tune people connect me with.

in 1994 i was a member of virtual dreams/fairlight on the amiga, and was lucky enough to be the musical part behind the well-known amiga demos "full moon" and "love".

i joined scoop [pc] in 1994 when i was working for funcom, norway. i didn't even have a pc, but einar ingebrigtsen, aka adept/scoop, told me that i could use his machine for tracker-music whenever he wasn't around, so i thought, why not? except from the "32-voices shock" i was just pleased actually! now i was able to release music on the pc in addition to the amiga.

in 1996 i got my first pc, a pentium 90, and i must say it was quite "brain-blocking" to suddenly compose music with 32 channels in 16-bit quality, instead of 4 channels 8-bit [amiga]. i guess it took me about 5-6 months before i felt that what i made was good enough for me to put my name on. the first pc-release was infact made for the official invitation intro to the gathering '96 ["moonlit"].

then, a couple of weeks later, the music-disk "ambrozia" was released under the label pulse / noiseless. at this time, scorpik had joined noiseless, so it was probably the best time for us to release a pc-production. it had infact been almost a 3 year break since i released any kind of music, so it was quite relaxing knowing that ambrozia grew to be quite popular.

when i look back in time nowadays, i certainly must admit that i have had a lot of fun, and i have learned a lot about music, making music, listening and doing everything you think is right for a tune. i made the kind of music i liked, so i stuck to that. we all tried different genres, but usually you end up with what you're comfortable with, and stick to that for the best results, right? anyway, i think this is an important issue of every musicians inspiration and motivation, at least it was and still is for me...

from the time when i first started, i would say that i've expanded my musical specter widely compared to back then. today, it's easier to make a tune sound good, relaxing and easy-listening now in 2005, compared to 1990 when it was always a struggle trying to impress myself and everyone else with technical and difficult music. i guess i "grew" up during these years, and i must say that i'm glad i had some kind of "inner flame" burning for knowledge about music, how to do what, when and if...

without these guys i would not understand music the way i am today;
martin galway, rob hubbard, ben daglish and later on, tim follin
